Idimayii, today in different hands, documented where it stands.

The Initial Situation
Context & Problem
Idimayii lies in the Maasai village of Lomiyon. Before our time, there was barely any chance of going to school on site. Lalahe began in 2009 together with the community.
The idea & the people
In 2018 Makuyuni e.V. stepped in. We did not start Idimayii, we helped Lalahe and the Lomiyon community continue what they had already begun.
The journey
In Idimayii we worked without a formal build protocol. What we know: four classrooms were built, around 75 children attended on site, the community carried the operation themselves.
The result
The school was handed to the Tanzanian government earlier than planned, teacher salaries and operations have run state-side ever since. Another NGO took over the further expansion.
Ausblick / Status
Idimayii stands. Idimayii learns. But no longer through us. We document the school here because it belongs to the Makuyuni story, even if the ongoing work happens elsewhere now.

Today: in other hands, what we can still share.
Idimayii is no longer in our hands. The school was handed over to the Tanzanian government and another NGO continues the expansion. We have not been operationally involved for years and that is exactly as it should be.
What we can share are the pictures, the history and a few key facts from the years we worked on-site. We are not aware of current student numbers or new building parts, you would need to inquire with the NGO that is continuing the work today.
What we learned with Idimayii.
Idimayii is the point where we learned what bookkeeping in an association really means. What we invested back then can no longer be neatly broken down by component and we openly state that here instead of inventing a number.
Lolera, Selela, Zaburi, Meleleki, there you can read every position. Idimayii remains the beginning where we learned that.

Idimayii was our first school. We no longer break down the exact individual costs of the components, we honestly state here what we still know.
What we take from Idimayii to the next schools.
From Idimayii we take away: Help towards self-help means ultimately no longer being there. A school that continues without us is not a loss, it is proof that the model works.
What we do differently today: We document from the beginning, we clearly assign responsibilities and we keep the transfer to government or community in view from the start. Lolera, Selela, Zaburi and Meleleki fit this line and are the schools where you can truly make a difference today.
You can help finance the next school.
Every euro goes directly into the construction of the next school.
