We build schools in Tanzania, together with the local people. In places where the nearest school was simply too far away. And if a community does not have clean drinking water, the well comes first, because without water, there is no school day.
A journey, an encounter, an idea.
Lalahe is Maasai, born in the Ngorongoro Crater. As early as 2009, he began building a first classroom together with the Lomiyon community, to finally bring education to his home region. For this goal, he and his then-wife Claire founded a small non-profit organization. In 2017, Jan joined as a volunteer, worked for exactly this organization, and got to know Lalahe.

Why we don't accept every project.
There is a need everywhere. Nevertheless, we only build where the community is involved: five criteria determine whether we start a project. Which five they are is set out in our mission.

Who is behind Makuyuni?
A board in Cologne, Lalahe and Lazaro in Tanzania and over 90 people in the network that supports and makes everything possible.

100% of your donation goes into school construction.
Notary, domain, and bank fees in Germany are covered by our members' crew contributions. Additionally, the salaries of Lalahe and Lazaro on-site, who coordinate each construction. Verified by our financial reports and the Cologne-Altstadt tax office.
